M. Dru Levasseur Esq.
M. Dru Levasseur (he/him) is a white trans first-generation lawyer who began his legal advocacy well before completing law school. His resume includes being a Harvard Law Wasserstein Fellow; the director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association; the director of Lambda Legal’s Transgender Rights Project; and the first staff attorney for the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, Inc. Dru was senior attorney and transgender rights project director for Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV. For a decade, Dru led Lambda Legal’s transgender rights work through strategy development, impact litigation, policy, advocacy, and public education and served as counsel in landmark impact litigation cases and amicus briefs in federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Currently, Dru leads his own coaching and consulting practice, Dru Levasseur Consulting, LLC. As a prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ equality movement for more than 25 years, Dru has extensive experience in law, advocacy, philanthropy, and community organizing.
